OPERATOR DROWNS AFTER BACKHOE SINKS IN OLONGAPO RIVER


OLONGAPO CITY – A backhoe operator drowned on Tuesday after his amphibious machine tipped over in a river here. 37-year-old Dioscoro Alaman y Toraño was traversing a river in his backhoe when it toppled and locked him in the cabin, that resulted in his drowning.
According to a police report by the Olongapo City Police Office, Alaman was operating the amphibious backhoe at around 9:45am when it accidentally tumbled and submerge. The employee of JAMJLE Properties and Development Corporation was unable to escape the cabin.
Authorities tried to rescue the victim by rushing him to Baypointe Hospital inside Subic Bay Freeport Zone, but was declared dead-on-arrival by the attending physician.
Netizens showed their heart-felt sympathies for the family and friends of the victim in social media.
