SEIZURE OF HALF MILLION WORTH OF SHABU RAISES CONCERN IN OLONGAPO

OLONGAPO CITY – Netizens have raised their concern over the drug trade here as the Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) seized more than half a million-peso worth of shabu on Wednesday in this city.
A total of 400 grams of shabu was seized by the OCPO on Wednesday during a buy-bust operation along the National Highway in Barangay West Bajac Bajac. The police arrested 56-year-old Florenio Miclat Jr. and 40-year-old Ronnie Cubilla who sold drugs to an undercover police agent.
Miclat, a resident of San Nicolas in Castillejos, is listed as the number one drug personality by the OCPO in Olongapo City.
At around 10am on Wednesday, Miclat and Cubilla arrived at the scene on board an orange Ford Ranger Wildtrak with license plate number CO K605 and transacted with the agents, selling five grams of illegal drugs. The drugs, according to the police, were worth P7,000.
After the transactions, the operatives arrested the two peddlers and recovered 23 pieces of heat-sealed sachets containing shabu. The OCPO weighed the drugs and determined that it was around 400 grams with a street value of P560,000.
The police have detained the suspects while cases for violation of section 5, 11 of RA 9165 are being filed at the City Prosecutors Office.
Miclat has been known by netizens as a person who has been in and out of jail for selling drugs. Some netizens have also expressed concern that the suspect might eventually get out of jail again to sell drugs.
Other netizens have expressed their gratitude that the police here are working round the clock to suppress the drug problems being faced by the country.
