World-renowned director Brillante Mendoza received a warm welcome from group of students, teachers and guests during the launching of Brillante Mendoza Film Festival(BMFF) held recently at SM City Olongapo.
The event pays tribute to the artistry and craftsmanship of independent film making, and gives additional knowledge and insights about the ‘ROLE OF A DIRECTOR IN A FILM’ in which Direk Brillante Mendoza willingly shared with the students and partners of SM City Olongapo.
The featured film Ma’ Rosa starring Jaclyn Jose, Andi Eigenman and Derek Ramsey enables fruitful discussion not only on content but also on form, in which both aspects complements each other and produced a very interesting piece of drama. Also, Jaclyn Jose’s historic best actress win at the Cannes Film Festival went down in history as one of the most unforgettable moments in Philippine cinema.
Truly, the film encourages awareness, appreciation and understanding of the alternative art movement called “Independent Film” or the “Indie Film.
Moreover, it has always been a priority of SM Supermalls to educate the public especially the youth by being an information gateway.(30)
